In my humble opinion, the most unique voice type I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with (and a rare one anyway) is that of a female professional actress. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t fall in love with the voice of a female professional actress. I have a soft spot for women actors when they deliver on their delivery. They convey a lot with just one or two words and they make people feel a little more comfortable knowing that they will get their needs met. There is also a certain amount of sweetness in a voice that female actors bring to the table to the point of making an actor’s job easier when they have to deliver, especially in a professional setting.
A large part of my job is performing the vocals of professional actresses. I have done it since college and I love it. However I’m not one to take my voice into account too much and I can’t stress how important that is. What’s also interesting is that for the past few years, my job has grown and changed dramatically. Prior to 2015, I was a voice actress in a film called ‘The Secret Diary of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler’ in which I appeared alongside an actress named Melissa H. in the voice of a female. The movie became big after it premiered and I got the chance to work with Melissa (whom I’d always admired and been a huge fan of because of the first book of the series, The Diary of Anne Frank) in a series of performances that would be released in the next couple of years. The character I’d written and had been playing for years was getting killed off in the movie and it was my job to portray it. Since the character died I had to find a way to work around the character and do voice work for Melissa and make it feel like you were there in the middle of the story.
After the movie came out and I heard that all of a sudden everything was a woman, I did the voice work for the lead role playing her as a very sweet and intelligent young woman but now I’ve realized that that could all be for naught. I would be lying if I said that it wasn’t a little bit frustrating at times having to do my part while at the same time having to explain that there was a new girl in my role. However, this isn’t an issue. Since I had an opportunity to do the voice work for Melissa, I have never wanted to have my voice ever be used as a female actor. I know how
